Bruno Wittig

Bruno Wittig (born February 11, 1885 in Wittenberg , † August 14, 1973 in Butzbach ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and former member of the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

Bruno Wittig was the son of the postal inspector Adolf Wittig and his wife Marie nee Freud. After graduating from "Tertia" he worked as a book printer until 1919, most recently as a machine master. In 1907 Bruno Wittig, who was a Protestant denomination, married Anna Pilz, born in Wittenberg.

Bruno Wittig was SPD party secretary for Friedberg-Büdingen-Schotten from April 1919 to 1933. From 1919 to 1933 he was also a city councilor and from 1919 to 1931 first councilor in Butzbach. At the same time he was a member of the district council, the district committee and the provincial committee of Upper Hesse . In 1927 he was chairman of the Butzbach union cartel.

From 1919 to 1921 he was a member of the state parliament. A candidacy for the Reichstag in 1930 in constituency 33 (Hessen-Darmstadt) was unsuccessful.

After the seizure of power by the Nazis, he could not continue his political work. During the Nazi era he was held in Osthofen and Dachau concentration camps.

From 1945 to 1949 he was mayor and from 1949 to 1960 city councilor in Butzbach. From 1945 to 1948 he was first and from 1948 second district deputy.
