Rob Bruynen

Rob Bruynen (* 1961 in Maastricht ) is a Dutch jazz musician ( trumpet , flugelhorn , composition ).

Live and act

Bruynen, who discovered the possibilities of the trumpet at the age of 14, initially played in local jazz bands. He studied classical and jazz trumpet at the Hilversum Conservatory . Then he played with The Skymasters , the Metropole Orkest and the Dutch Jazzorchestra as lead and solo trumpeter. Since 1986 he has been a member of the WDR Big Band Cologne . He's with Quincy Jones , the Brecker Brothers , Phil Woods , Ray Brown , Joe Lovano , Joe Zawinul , Carmen McRae , Roy Hargrove ,George Duke , Al Jarreau , Kenny Wheeler , Chaka Khan , Erik Truffaz , McCoy Tyner and Joachim Kühn performed. He also leads his own big band Brownie Speaks and his quintet Brownie's Colors with saxophonist Jens Neufang . He can also be heard on albums with Peter Less , George Gruntz / Allen Ginsberg and Maceo Parker .

Bruynen teaches jazz and lead trumpet as well as big band at the Maastricht Conservatory .
