Jens Neufang

Jens Neufang (* 1960 in Neunkirchen ) is a German jazz musician ( saxophone , clarinet , also flute ).

Career

Neufang studied classical clarinet at the Saarbrücken University of Music and jazz saxophone at the Cologne University of Music and Dance . Early on he had engagements as a theater musician at the Saarland State Theater Saarbrücken, the State Theater Wiesbaden, the Schauspielhaus and the Cologne Opera. He worked as a temporary worker in the Kaiserslautern Radio Orchestra of Südwestfunk and in the SWF Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden. He also played in the Thilo Berg Big Band, the SR Big Band, the HR Big Band , with Peter Herbolzheimer's Rhythm Combination & Brass , the German Jazz Orchestra , Paul Kuhn , Günter Noris , the Timeless Art Orchestra , the Bobby Burgess Big Band, Michael Villmows Cologne Big Band and the ARD All Star Big Band Frankfurt . He founded the Jens Neufang- Bjoern Strangmann Quartet.

As a baritone and bass saxophonist, he has been a member of the WDR Big Band Cologne since 1993 , with which he has participated in numerous radio productions and can be heard on many albums, for example with Helen Schneider , Eddie Harris or Lalo Schifrin . He also plays with the Rösrath All Stars and in the Volberger Church in Hoffnungsthal . He is also part of Rob Bruynen's quintet Brownie's Colors . He can also be heard on the CD Unspoken by the trio Heike Kraske, Jens Neufang, Uwe Arenz.
