Bryan Gary Habana (born June 12, 1983 in Benoni , South Africa ) is a South African rugby union player . He plays as the outer three quarters for the South African national rugby union team . He also represents this position for the Blue Bulls in the South African Currie Cup and for the Bulls in the Super 14 . In 2007 he became world champion with the national team and set the previous record for most attempts by Jonah Lomu in 1999 with eight attempts . That same year Bryan Habana was named Player of the Year by the International Rugby Board . He also won the Currie Cup with the Blue Bulls in 2006 and the Super 14 with the Bulls in 2007 and 2009.

In 2009 he won the test series against the British and Irish Lions with South Africa . At the 2015 World Cup , he took over from Jonah Lomu the top spot in the list of players with the most attempts at World Championships.

Bryan Habana is committed to protecting animals outside of rugby. In April 2007, a 100-meter sprint duel between him, who can run this distance in 10.4 seconds, and a cheetah was held to draw attention to the threat to this species.
