Brinley Victor "Bryn" Meredith (born November 21, 1930 in Cwmbran , Torfaen ) is a Welsh rugby union player . He played as a hooker for the Welsh national team and the British and Irish Lions .
Meredith went to West Mon School in Pontypool and played for the Welsh school selection after World War II . He gained his first experience in club rugby at Devonport Services RFC . In 1951 he came to Newport RFC , for which he played for 14 years, with a break of one year. From 1956 to 1957 he played for the London Welsh , as he worked in London as a teacher.
Meredith played his first international match against Ireland in 1954 . He only missed two games in his eight years as a national player. The total of 34 games played for Wales was a record for a striker at the time. In 1955 he was first considered for a tour of the Lions and was used in all friendly matches against the Springboks . Four years later in New Zealand he was substitute for the captain Ronnie Dawson . In 1962 he was again a regular when the Lions traveled to South Africa .
