The Buchan River is a river in eastern Gippsland in the Australian state of Victoria .

It rises on the western slope of Blue Hill in the Alpine National Park . From its source, the Buchan River flows south through largely unpopulated area to the small town of Buchan . There the river turns to the east and flows east of the Lucas Point settlement into the Snowy River .
