The Buchenauerhof is a historic farm estate on the boundary of the village of Weiler in the Rhine-Neckar district, which is incorporated into Sinsheim . Today the main building is owned by the Christian aid and mission organization DMG interpersonal .

geography

The Buchenauerhof is located on the K 4277, which connects these villages west-east, less than two kilometers as the crow flies from Waldangelloch and more than three kilometers from Weiler . It is surrounded by a bay of the Great Forest that opens to the west , through which the Bittiggraben runs to the Winkelbach , which then flows into the Waldangelbach at Waldangelloch .

history

The Buchenauerhof was already mentioned in the early 18th century. There was once a brick factory here, so the farm was also called the brick yard . The neglected property was replaced from 1865 by a country house and contemporary farm buildings, and extensive forests were cleared. The farm was leased to the sugar factory in Waghäusel and offered jobs for day laborers. The country house burned down and was replaced by a castle-like building by August Benckiser , in which a spiral staircase of the castle in Waldangelloch, which was demolished after 1899, was built. In 1953 the estate passed into the ownership of the Sprenger tenant family, who had been working since 1940, and temporarily served as a children's recreation home for Caritas . In 1971, the "German Mission Community", today DMG interpersonal , acquired the castle building and now uses the facility as a training and recreation center. A country inn and the golf course of the Sinsheim Golf Club are located near the castle.
