Buco-Zau is a small town and a district in the Angolan province of Cabinda .

Place name

The name is made up of the Kikongo words mbuku (place) and nzawu (elephant).

history

On March 15, 1957, the place was raised to a small town ( Vila ).

administration

Buco-Zau is the seat of a district of the same name ( Município ) in the province of Cabinda . The district covers 2115 km² and has around 40,000 inhabitants (2011 estimate). From now on, the 2014 census should provide reliable population data.

Buco-Zau County borders the Republic of Congo in the north, Belize County in the northeast , the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the south and Cacongo County in the southwest .
