Buddy Longway is a French-Belgian Western - comic book series , by Derib was texted and drawn. The stories appeared from 1972 to 1987 and from 2002 to 2006.

The series describes the life of Buddy Longway, a white trapper who lived in North America in the second half of the 19th century. He is able to save the Indian Chinook from the Sioux tribe from enslavement by white settlers. He marries her and has two children with her, Jeremiah and Kathleen, with whom he lives in a wooden hut in the wilderness. He is helpful and a loving father and seeks peace with the Indians.
In the course of his life, Longway was confronted with wild animals, forces of nature, gold prospectors, settlers and the military. Longway also has to spend a long time alone. His son Jeremiah dies from a stray pistol shot by a soldier. Eventually Longway and Chinook are killed by an Indian. This took revenge because Longway had once stood up for his rivals.

A first short story appeared in Tintin Sélection in 1972 , after which editor-in-chief Michel Régnier commissioned a sequel story for Tintin magazine . A few months after the pre-release, an album followed by Le Lombard . The last four volumes were published without a preprint. A complete edition in five anthologies was published by the publisher from 2010 to 2011.
In Germany, the first four albums appeared in the years 1976 to 1977 as sequels in issues 36 to 63 of the comic magazine Yps . Volumes 1 to 6 were published as comic albums by Carlsen Verlag between 1981 and 1984 , while volumes 7 to 8 were published by Feest from 1990 to 1991 . Volumes 9 to 19 were published by Kult Editions from 1998 to 2000 and the final volume was published by Finix Comics in 2010 . From 2015 to 2016, all 20 comic albums were published in a five-volume complete edition in the Egmont Comic Collection .
