Buhl is located in western Alabama in the southern United States, about 50 kilometers east of the Mississippi border .
Nearby places include Elrod (3 km west), Coker (5 km east), Northport (8 km east), Tuscaloosa (9 km southeast) and Gordo (14 km northwest). The next larger city with 212,000 inhabitants is about 80 kilometers northeast of Birmingham .
history
The place was named after a Mr. Buhl, who was an employee of the Mobile and Ohio Railroad , which in 1898 built a railway line through what is now the local area. Just two years later, in 1900, a post office was opened.
