Geography and climate

Gordo is located at 33 ° 19'17 "N 87 ° 54'13" W, in western Alabama, in the southern United States, about 295 km north of the Gulf of Mexico . According to the Köppen and Geiger climate classification , the climate in Gordo is humid and subtropical (Cfa, east side climate ).

Ma'Cille's Museum of Miscellanea

Ma'Cille's Museum of Miscellanea (German roughly: "Ma'Cill's Museum für Various") was a museum founded and operated by Lucille House (alias: "Mama Lucille" or "Ma'Cille") in the early 1960s Everyday objects, curiosities and surrealistic items such as old bottles, dolls, agricultural implements, prepared animals and fossils were presented. After almost 40 years of operation, the museum had to close in 1998 and Ma'Cille House passed away in 1999.

Mule Day / Chickenfest

Mule Day and Chickenfest (also Muleday and Chickenfest , German: Maultiertag und Hühnerfest) is an annual event on the first weekend in June to celebrate the agricultural traditions in Gordo with around 6000 visitors. Mule Day was first organized in 1987 by Cecil Robertson, James Pearson and Bobby Daniels, and in 1999 it was merged with the Chickenfest, which had taken place in October.
