The Buka was a station steamer of the Imperial Governorate of German New Guinea .
history
The Buka was built in 1911 by Ulderup & Schlueter on behalf of the German New Guinea Protected Area in Hong Kong . She was a yacht for station service in the Solomon Islands . The ship was named after the island of Buka in the Solomon Islands.
After the outbreak of the First World War in August 1914, the Buka sank in November 1914 when an Australian warship approached Kieta , the German government station on the island of Bougainville .
