Bumble Bee Slim (born May 7, 1905 in Brunswick , Georgia , † 1968 in Los Angeles , California ), actually Amos Easton , was an American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter, one of the most successful blues musicians of the 1930s and formerly representative of the Chicago Blues .

Live and act

Easton had to work early. After a restless youth, at times at a circus , he came to Indianapolis in 1928 , where he met Leroy Carr , who with Scrapper Blackwell formed the hippest blues duo of the time. Easton performed under the name Bumble Bee Slim. In 1931 he made his first recording Chain Gang Bound in Chicago . The following year he had a hit with B&O Blues .

Between 1934 and 1937, Bumble Bee Slim recorded over 150 tracks, accompanied by such well-known musicians as Big Bill Broonzy , Memphis Minnie and Peetie Wheatstraw .

In 1937 Slim returned to Georgia . In the early 1940s he went to Los Angeles , where he hoped to gain a foothold in the film business. Soon he turned back to the blues. He recorded a few more albums and performed in the Los Angeles area until his death, but could no longer follow on from his earlier successes.

Bumble Bee Slim presumably died in 1968.
