Federal Family Forum

The Federal Family Forum is an amalgamation of 120 nationwide active organizations, including family and welfare associations , foundations , trade unions , professional associations , research institutions, and religious and ideological communities . The member organizations share the goal of actively taking responsibility for a more family-friendly society.

It works on a project basis with a focus on content over a period of two years and publishes work results and topic-related proposals that correspond to the principle of sustainability . It is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth , but sees itself as independent.

history

The network was founded in September 2000 as a further development of the permanent family conference. The sponsor was the working group of German family organizations. At that time there were 82 family policy organizations and umbrella organizations as members. From 2007–2013, the Federal Family Forum was independent as a registered association, and from 2013 the Federal Family Forum was re-established as a project within the working group of German family organizations .

Projects and opinions

In 2007, Federal Minister Ursula von der Leyen gave the Federal Forum the lead for the two-year project “Children need values ​​- Alliance initiative: Responsible education”. On the occasion of World Children's Day , the Federal Forum emphasized in September 2008 that child poverty, child neglect and educational barriers in one's own country and around the world should be taken into account. As a partial result of the two-year project, the Federal Family Forum published the Berlin Declaration on Value-Oriented Education on November 25, 2008 . The focus of this project was the question of how children can be supported in dealing competently with the diversity of values ​​in a constantly changing society. On the occasion of didacta , the Federal Family Forum launched a new website “Children need values” on the Internet in 2008. The follow-up project was the "Bringing values ​​to life!"

So far the Federal Forum has worked on the following topics:

The current topic for the period 2020–2021 is "Family, Housing and Communal Infrastructure". The main discussion there will be about the housing shortage and rising prices.
