The Bundesforum Männer is a German umbrella association of 33 organizations that conducts gender policy work for boys , men and fathers across Germany. The full name is Bundesforum Männer - Interest association for boys, men and fathers e. V. Chairman of the association is Thomas Altgeld, managing director Dag Schölper. The seat is in Berlin .

The Federal Men’s Forum was founded in 2010 as a counterpart to the much longer existing and broader German Women's Council . It is co-financed by the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth .

The umbrella organization expressly distances itself from anti-feminist currents, but criticizes the neglect of male concerns. He is classified as professional.

After the 2017 federal election, the association called for men's politics in the coalition agreement. Specifically, requests were made for two weeks of paternity leave after the birth with continued payment of wages, family working hours with the right to return full-time, a reduction in tax and social law incentives for the traditional breadwinner model and improved framework conditions for caring relatives. In addition, the possibility of joint parental responsibility in subsequent separation families is required.

Goals and self-image

The aim of the association is to promote work with boys, men and fathers in Germany. The association is particularly committed to the following tasks:

  • Network work with boys, men and fathers as well as other professional associations and research on masculinity and gender relations in Germany,
  • Formulate and address issues relating to work with boys, men and fathers and represent them publicly in relation to politics and society,
  • Conduct public relations work on the topic,
  • Promote gender equality and gender democracy, particularly with regard to the living conditions of boys, men and fathers,
  • Establish connections and cooperations in the European or international area,
  • Initiate and accompany educational measures, research tasks and projects in the field of boys, men and fathers,
  • Provide expertise, service and advice for work with boys, men and fathers.

Self-image

The Federal Forum sees itself as a working group for boys, fathers and men. It is open to actors from politics, business, social systems, the church, religious communities, law, science and other areas of society. The members are committed to gender equality as a basic principle of their joint work and are committed to ensuring that all genders are equally in the focus of political and social development. In doing so, they turn against any form of gender discrimination (sexism) . The Federal Forum is based on the principle of comprehensive social equality and helps to promote the genders in their respective developments, identities and the diversity of their lifestyles. The work takes place in a constructive dialogue between the sexes. The forum is committed to solidarity among men and boys as well as with women and girls.
