The Bundesmarktverband der Fischwirtschaft e. V. (BMV) is the umbrella organization of the fishing industry associations in Germany . Members of the trade association are the industry associations of the fishing industry based in Germany .
history
The association was founded on May 20, 1954 in Bremen. Under the chairman Herbert Fornell, the Federal Market Association received its formal recognition under the Fish Act of August 31, 1955. In its previous existence, the association had been exposed to a rollercoaster of opinion trends in the fishing industry. Over the years, however, the association has faced changing tasks and topics. To date, two functions have proven to be permanent: For the fishing industry, the association is the central point of contact for ministries and authorities to answer cross-sectoral questions about the fishing industry. In addition to its function as the "No. 1 contact point for matters relating to the fishing industry", the Federal Market Association offers its members valuable services through circulars and the organization of events.
purpose
The purpose of the association is to coordinate, preserve and promote the ideal and economic interests of the German fishing industry. He advises the Federal Minister for Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture and the EU authorities. Further tasks are the promotion of the quality of the fish , crabs and molluscs traded by the companies and the food produced from them as well as fair competition within the fishing industry, market observation, market reporting and statistics. The association also maintains contacts with the media .
As part of the Fish Labeling Act of August 1, 2002, the association is of great importance as a hearing body. In addition, the Federal Market Association is often contacted by representatives of the press in order to obtain information on economic policy about the “fishing industry” in Germany.
