The Bundesrealgymnasium Schuhmeierplatz (BRG 16) is a general secondary school founded at the end of the 19th century in Ottakring , the 16th district of Vienna . The school offers the types Realgymnasium and modern language Realgymnasium.

history

The modern language high school begins in the entrance class with English , French follows two years later. Two years later, Latin can be chosen as an optional subject and Italian as an optional subject in the following year .

In front of the grammar school is the Schuhmeierplatz , which was redesigned from September to December 2007 and has been in its current location for more than 100 years, between Arltgasse and Possingergasse.

The main building of the high school was the beginning of the 20th century under the rule of the Habsburgs built and initially served as kk State Secondary School Vienna 16th

In 1999 the school was able to look back on its centenary.

Buildings and equipment

The school consists of a five-storey main building and two auxiliary buildings, in which there are a total of 30 classrooms, six specialist rooms, a music hall and two gymnasiums and ballrooms.

The two IT rooms are each equipped with around 15 computers with Internet access. The new physics room also has two televisions, as does the chemistry room. The other specialist rooms include the biology hall, drawing rooms and factory rooms.

A school partnership with the grammar school in Benešov ( Czech Republic ) has existed since 1996.

A general renovation (renovation and extension) was started in 2012 and should be completed in 2014.

Prizes and awards

  • In 2004 the school was voted the most exercise-friendly school in Austria by Education Minister Elisabeth Gehrer .
  • Since 1995 the school has won nine prizes in the handball school cup , including national championships .
  • The school's soccer team won the Vienna Student League in 1986.
