The constituency Segeberg - Neumünster had constituency number 10. The area of ​​the constituency remained unchanged for the federal elections from 1949 to 1961.

Before the federal election in 1965, the constituency was split up. The area of ​​the Segeberg district went to the Segeberg - Eutin constituency and the city of Neumünster to the Rendsburg - Neumünster constituency .

Carl Schröter, who was directly elected in the 1949 Bundestag election, died on February 25, 1952. According to Section 15 of the Electoral Act then in force, a by-election had to take place, which was also held on May 4, 1952. The elected candidate, Walter Bartram, then moved up to the Bundestag on May 13, 1952.
