The Bundesverband Bausysteme e. V. , based in Koblenz, was founded in Frankfurt am Main in 1959 as a “study group for prefabricated construction” and renamed in 2009. Since then, representatives of the construction industry, research and teaching as well as manufacturers from the various construction sectors have organized themselves in interest-specific professional associations and groups in the federal association in order to promote sustainable developments for the construction industry. In its associations, the Bundesverband Bausysteme e. V. in particular the topics of efficient construction methods, prefabrication, new building materials, information processing and building systems, such as container and modular buildings. tasks and goals
The Bundesverband Bausysteme e. V. sets itself the goal of promoting new developments in the construction industry based on a technical and scientific basis and thus making a contribution to the successful design of the construction industry of the future. With regard to the demand for economical and sustainable construction methods, the Federal Association of Building Systems attaches great importance to prefabricated construction and the use of prefabricated components. Industrial prefabrication is therefore given special attention in all areas. As an umbrella organization , the Bundesverband Bausysteme e. V. provides a framework for the exchange of information and experience among its members from industry and science and thus promotes interdisciplinary cooperation and networking. Depending on the task at hand, the professional associations and specialist groups develop technical leaflets, aids for building regulations , teaching aids for students, hold information events such as the lecture series “Industry informs universities” or are involved in standards committees and other bodies . In cooperation with the Association of German Engineers (VDI), the Bundesverband Bausysteme e. V. Guidelines of the VDI / BV-BS series.
Trade associations and specialist groups
Professional Association for Digital Construction Products
The professional association for digital building products in the Bundesverband Bausysteme e. V. developed from the manufacturer initiative "productsforbim" founded in 2017 and works on practical solutions for building with the Building Information Modeling (BIM) method and the creation of a digital (building) twin. In particular, the design of practical, digital manufacturer information on building products and building materials for the planning, execution and management of buildings is being promoted.
Association of prefabricated bathrooms
The prefabricated bathroom trade association promotes cooperation between manufacturers of prefabricated bathrooms and the sanitary industry with the aim of promoting the development of high-quality and inexpensive prefabricated bathrooms . One of the main tasks of the professional association is to show the advantages of installing prefabricated bathrooms compared to conventional construction and to provide technical information on the products as well as planning instructions. With its comprehensive range, the prefabricated bathroom trade association is aimed at building owners, architects, specialist planners and general contractors.
Trade association for storage technology in building construction
The Fachverband Lagertechnik im Hochbau offers manufacturers of elastomer bearings a platform for exchanging information on the characteristics and technical requirements of their products. The professional association develops technical leaflets and position papers to primarily provide planners, users and students with guidelines on the use of elastomer bearings. The series of guidelines VDI / BV-BS 6207 Bearings and bearings in building construction was created on the initiative and with the cooperation of the trade association and sets the current technical standard for the calculation and dimensioning of bearings in building construction. Elastomer bearings make use of the property of elastomers to reversibly absorb large deformations and are used to support components.
Association of Prefabricated Room Systems
Manufacturers and providers of modular, prefabricated room systems organize themselves in the professional association for prefabricated room systems in order to advance technical and qualitative standards for the market. The professional association represents the interests of the industry towards politics, economy and research and makes a contribution to strengthening the perception of building with prefabricated room systems. In the course of the guidelines and committee work, the guideline series VDI / BV-BS 6206 Buildings from reusable room cells in steel frame construction, sheets 1–3, the guideline VDI / BV-BS 6208 Buildings from modules and the guideline room cells for transports were created. With its student competitions, the association also makes an important contribution to promoting young talent.
Specialist group BIM in precast construction
In the Bundesverband Bausysteme e. V., the BIM specialist group in precast construction, founded in 2010, aims to optimize data transmission between all parties involved in precast construction . On the basis of the IFC , the specialist group is developing an interface that is specially tailored to the requirements of precast construction.
