history

ECISA was founded in 1949 and was active in the civil construction sector, including building roads, viaducts and motorways.

In the 1970s, ECISA entered the field of shopping center development and investment and gradually reduced its other activities. In this area, the company was responsible for the planning, marketing, integration and construction of the Brasília National Set , the first Brazilian project to be conceived within the framework of the standards and concepts that characterize a shopping center. Between 1980 and 2000, the group built and managed the ECISA Shopping Recife, NorteShopping, Shopping Campo Grande, Shopping Delrey and Shopping Iguatemi Caxias do Sul shopping centers. Shopping Villa-Lobos and Independência Shopping opened in 2008.

At the end of the 1990s, the activities of ECISA in the area of shopping mall management and store and store sales were transferred to other special purpose vehicles established for this purpose. These are the companies Egec and Dacom , which started to provide services for the shopping centers in which ECISA was involved alongside those of third parties.

In October 2006, GP Investimentos and Equity Internacional, a global real estate company, joined, bought ECISA, EGEC and Dacom and founded BRMALLS. At that time, BRMALLS was the fifth largest Brazilian operator of shopping centers and the largest provider of marketing and administrative services in this sector.
