GPA (until 2013 Grupo Pão de Açúcar , German: "Sugar Loaf Group") is a Brazilian retail company with headquarters in São Paulo .

The Grupo Pão de Açúcar was founded in 1948. The owner is the French trading company Groupe Casino , which includes Géant . In addition to the Pão de Açúcar supermarket chain, GPA owns the Extra and Assaí chains, both active in the same sector, and the Casas Bahia and Pontofrio chains, which specialize in stationary and online sales of electronic goods . The GPA also operates the Barateiro websites.
