The Federal Association of Wholesale, Foreign Trade, Services e. V. (BGA) is a German umbrella organization of associations in these branches of industry, based in Berlin . It was founded on March 29, 1949 by representatives from 40 associations as the general association of German wholesale and foreign trade. Today it has almost 70 member associations and represents around 125,000 companies with a turnover of more than 1,000 billion euros.

He represents the interests of German wholesale and foreign trade and the services sector. The BGA is one of the leading German associations and supports its members in professional, economic and socio-political issues. For this, as with all lobby associations, contacts with representatives of the Federal Government and the German Bundestag , as well as the Bundesrat, are essential.

Member associations

23 state and regional associations are subordinate to the BGA and 49 federal professional associations are affiliated as member associations. The professional associations are divided into four groups:

  • Associations of the industrial B2B trade,
  • Associations of consumer goods wholesalers (finished goods, food, non-food)
  • Associations of the wholesale of food and agricultural products and
  • Foreign trade associations.

The BGA is a member of EuroCommerce, the EU-wide trade association based in Brussels. In addition, the BGA, together with other central associations of German business, is the supporting association of the regional initiatives APA ( Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business ), NMI ( North Africa Middle East Initiative of German Business ), LAI (Latin America Initiative of German Business) and Member of other bodies at German, European and international level.
