The Federal Association of Regional Movement (BRB) is a non-profit umbrella organization and lobby group for regional initiatives as well as for small and medium-sized regional companies in Germany, i. H. for all actors who want to strengthen regional economic cycles and promote regional added value. It was founded on March 10, 2005 in Feuchtwangen in Central Franconia . As an eco-social movement, it sees itself as a mouthpiece for regionalization processes and as a competence network for regionality in Germany.

The movement

General

The BRB was founded on the basis of the nationwide action alliance Day of the Regions on the initiative of Heiner Sindel (innkeeper and 1st chairman of the regional initiative Species-Rich Land - Livable City from Feuchtwangen) and has its main office in Feuchtwangen. The non-profit association sees itself as an umbrella organization for the diverse players in regional economic activity who contribute to successful and sustainable regional development and the strengthening of rural areas. He also ensures the communication of relevant content and issues in politics and society. The BRB's thematic platforms include not only local supplies of everyday food, but also regional school development , regional financial service providers, regional renewable energies and regional handicrafts. By maintaining and promoting regional added value, rural areas are to be strengthened, prospects for rural regions to stay are created and the cultural landscape is thus preserved.

tasks

As the only association in Germany with many years of experience in the area of regionality, the BRB acts equally as a mouthpiece and interest representation for all actors who want to strengthen regional economic cycles and promote regional value creation. (Regional initiatives, micro, small and medium-sized companies). He takes care of the networking and the exchange of experiences between the regional actors and can rely on his numerous and extensive contacts in politics, administration and consumers.

The BRB strengthens consumers' awareness of buying regional products by using targeted and continuous public relations work to point out the advantages of regional business. This is mainly done through actions within the framework of the Day of the Regions Action Alliance, one of the association's major projects.

At the same time, the BRB is working with science to develop data in order to be able to specifically name the importance of regional economic cycles and to formulate good arguments for re-regionalization.

The Federation of Regional movement sees itself as a "think tank" ( think tank ) and works as a trans-disciplinary competence network, communication, coordination and transfer platform. In doing so, he develops approaches, models and strategies aimed at sustainable regional development.

aims

The preservation of the basis of life for people, animals and plants, including water, air, soil and energy, but also jobs, good working conditions and fair prices, is the overarching goal of the Federal Association. The association advocates a comprehensive concept of regionality which, in addition to local supply with everyday goods, also takes into account local supply with education, information, income and participation. In addition to nature, environmental and climate protection, the regional movement would also like to establish "regional protection" socially and legally and to build structures for it. In the context of "regional protection", the BRB defines what constitutes a regional product in order to counteract a dilution of the term "regional". The aim of the BRB is also lobbying work carried out jointly with members , which is perceived by the public and decision-makers equally strongly, continuously and sustainably. As a long-term advocacy group for the regional movement, the BRB wants to appear vis-à-vis the Bundestag, the federal government, state governments and the EU and maintain contacts with public institutions and cooperation with scientific institutions.
