The free medical care provided by the troops includes, among other things, the prevention and early detection of diseases, preventive medical services, outpatient general medical, specialist and dental examinations and treatments, hospital treatment , palliative care , organ donations and other donations, medical rehabilitation measures , remedies and aids , drugs and medical devices, and visual aids , home nursing, family and household help , sociotherapy , treatments during an official or private stay abroad, ambulance transport and travel expenses, food allowance for inpatient hospital treatment, rehabilitation measures and preventive services as well as for accommodation in a nursing home , benefits in the event of pregnancy , maternity and need for care, artificial Fertilization and emergency treatments.

If the soldier renounces the free medical care at his own initiative, the costs for this will only be reimbursed in emergencies. Unpaid medical services for the troops are generally granted as goods or services. If the entitlement to free medical care cannot be met by medical facilities of the Bundeswehr, soldiers can use service providers outside the Bundeswehr if there is an emergency or if this was initiated by (dental) doctors of the Bundeswehr.
