Free military medical care

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The free military medical care (utV) for soldiers of the Bundeswehr includes all medical services required to maintain health, prevent and early detection of damage to health and the treatment of illnesses. It is a special form of medical care ( § 69a BBesG , § 6 WSG ) and is based on the Bundeswehr Medical Care Ordinance ( BwHFV ).

For example, the free medical care provided by the army does not include any cosmetic treatments or contraceptive measures. House and first-aid kits must also be paid for by the soldier himself. Since illnesses on vacation abroad only cover the costs at the rates customary in Germany, soldiers are advised to take out supplementary health insurance when on vacation abroad . The free medical care provided by the troops does not extend to family members of eligible soldiers. If these are not subject to social insurance , 30 percent of the spouses and 20 percent of the children can be privately insured; the rest is borne by the aid .

There is no free choice of doctor when it comes to free medical care. Soldiers are generally treated by military medical personnel, who are thereby kept in practice at the same time. The troop doctor is responsible for the primary treatment. He coordinates and organizes specialist visits if necessary and ensures that all findings and the medical history are brought together. External treatments, for example in Bundeswehr hospitals or with civilian doctors or psychotherapists, are routinely carried out at the instigation of the military doctor.

In the case of dentures, the free medical care provided by the troops is fully effective. In addition, soldiers can pay for additional services themselves. People who wear glasses only get the cheapest glasses frames and only simple glasses prescribed and paid for as duty glasses.

According to Section 30, Paragraph 1, Clause 2 SG , the free medical care provided by the troops is a benefit in kind. Soldiers are fundamentally entitled to free medical assistance as long as they are entitled to salary .
