Bungoma is the capital of Bungoma County and has a population of just under 45,000. It is located near the border with Uganda directly on the equator . Agriculture is the main activity in and around Bungoma.

In addition to the Uganda Railway , which runs through Bungoma, there are regular bus services, e.g. B. in the capital Nairobi . Highway A 104 passes Bungoma.
Infrastructure
In addition to primary, secondary and high schools, Bungoma has the Sang'alo Institute of Science and Technology and the Mabanga Farmer's training center. The Bungoma diocese of the Roman Catholic Church maintains a school for disabled children, St. Catherine's School, in Bungoma.
