The Burden Passage is a strait between Bransfield Island and D'Urville Island off the northeast coast of Antarctic Graham Land .
It was mapped by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1947 . It is named after the Canadian Eugene Moore Burden (1892–1979), who was the first to cross this sea route in January 1947 as captain of the sealer Trepassye .
