Bruce Vogt

Bruce Paul Vogt (born February 21, 1950 in Cornwall , Ontario ) is a Canadian pianist and music teacher.

Vogt studied in Canada with Damjana Bratuz and Anton Kuerti , in the USA with Bela Böszörmenyi-Nagy and in Europe with Guido Agosti , György Sebök , Dario de Roas , Louis Kentner , Fou Ts'Ong and Alfred Brendel as a scholarship holder of the Canada Council , the University of Toronto and the University of Victoria . He initially taught at Acadia University (1977-8), the University of Toronto (1978-79), Lakehead University , and the University of Western Ontario (1979-80) and from 1980 at the University of Victoria, where he became in 1991 took over the management of the piano department. He also gave workshops and master classes in France, Germany, Italy, Bulgaria and Japan.

As a piano soloist he has performed with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra , the Quebec Symphony Orchestra , the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra , the Orchestra London Canada and the Victoria Symphony Orchestra , and his chamber music partners included Steven Dann , Elissa Poole , Stan Fisher , Susan Young , Christoph Both and Yumiko Yamamoto . His repertoire spanned works from the Baroque period to the present day, and he stood out with recordings of compositions by Franz Liszt and world premieres of works by Alfred Fisher .
