The Castle Alt-Kisslegg is an Outbound hilltop castle on a hill behind the "dog farm" (castle 2) east of Kißlegg on the road 330 to Wolfegg in the district of Ravensburg in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The castle, mentioned in the 12th century, was probably built earlier by the lords of Kisilegge (Chisilecke), who were ministerials of the St. Gallen monastery . Around 1300 the castle came to the Lords of Schellenberg by inheritance . In 1525, during the Peasants' War , half of Kißlegg and the castle were sold to Friedrich von Freyberg, who and the Schellenbergers moved to the Old Castle and the New Castle in Kißlegg soon afterwards . In the 17th century the castle was in ruins . In 1662 the monastery used the stones of the castle to build the rectory.

description

Built on a seven-meter-high castle hill with a hexagonal tower castle were visible from the 18th century ruins, was of a defensive wall long, the administrative buildings, farm buildings and a 200 meters via a drawbridge to be passed moat surrounding it. The tower of the castle was also used as a prison for centuries.

Legend

After a legend, there should have been in the cellars of the castle a lost treasure. It is also said to be haunted here . According to the legend, a big black cat and other figures are said to appear in the walls of the castle and then suddenly disappear again. Are they guarding the treasure?
