Krakovec Castle (German Rothschloß ) is located in Krakovec in Okres Rakovník , Czech Republic .

The castle was to 1383 for the Viscount of Křivoklát built Jíra of Roztok. It belonged to Heinrich von Lazan from 1410 and was the last place where Jan Hus stayed before he left for Constance . In 1437 Johann Bechyňek von Lazan sold the castle and the manor for 2500 shock groschen . In the 16th century the castle was rebuilt in the Renaissance style. It was abandoned after a fire in 1783. In 1915, the Club of Czech Tourists (KČT) bought the Krakovec castle ruins from the last owner, Max von Croÿ -Dülmen. The ruin has been called Krakovec since 1920 .

In 1977 the ruin was the location of the children's musical Our spirits should live! ; In 1978, recordings for the film Prince and Evening Star were shot here.
