Ledvice Castle

As Castle Ledvice one is Outbound Spur castle in the Czech Republic called. It is located one and a half kilometers southeast of the center of Vémyslice in the Okres Znojmo .

geography

The castle stable is located on the rocky spur Na Skalce on the right-hand side above a bend in the Ledvický creek in the Jevišovická pahorkatina ( Jaispitzer hill country ).

The surrounding villages are Rybníky and Dobelice in the northeast, Petrovice in the southeast and Vémyslice in the northwest.

history

Nothing is known about the castle, its real name and its owners. Possibly it was the seat of the Vladiken von Vémyslice , who owned a smaller part of Vémyslice between 1298 and 1359. It is also possible that their builders were lower nobles who owned the village of Ledvice, whose history is also in the dark. The castle and village probably went out in the 15th century. Ledvice was first mentioned in 1529 as a deserted village.

investment

The two-part castle complex consisted of a 28 × 18 m castle core , which partially stood on the rock and was surrounded by a 12 m wide and 3 m deep ditch . The rocky upper end of the castle core was probably flanked by an artificial terrace. The approx. 50 m long outer bailey was on a one meter high step and was not separated from the surroundings by a ditch.

Today, the Burgstall is overgrown with tall grass and robinia and is only clearly visible during the vegetation break.
