Weiler Castle

The Burgweiler is an Outbound hilltop castle on a 649.9  m above sea level. NN high Kalvarienberg south of Derneck Castle above the Lauter and north of the Münzdorf district of the town of Hayingen in the Reutlingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

Ceramic finds point to the construction time of the castle, which was probably built by the Lords of Gundelfingen from 1100 to 1150. Before 1200, the castle was probably abandoned and left to decay. In 1825 the castle was mentioned as "Käfle" and " Burgstall " and was later owned by the town of Hayingen.

Since there was no space for larger buildings on the 5 by 4 meter summit plateau, only a residential or watchtower is conceivable. About 8 meters below, the mountain summit was surrounded on three sides by a system of ramparts and ditches of which clear remains have been preserved.
