The castle ruin Dobra is the ruin of a hilltop castle in the municipality of Pölla in Lower Austria and is located on the left bank of the Dobra reservoir , around 5 kilometers west of Krumau am Kamp .

history

The fortification was first mentioned in 1186 with Hertnit von Dobra . The name comes from the South Slavic word for forest . At the beginning of the 18th century, Freiherr Johann Philipp von Ehrmann owned the Dobra estate. After he had converted the Wetzlas Castle , a former meierhof, into a manor house and moved from the castle to the castle, the castle fell into disrepair.

The current owner is the "Windhag'sche Scholarship Foundation". In 1996 the castle was leased by the “Pölla Aktiv” association, which partially renovated the ruins and used it for various events.
