The Postal Kernegg (also Kerneck or Chernekk called) is an Outbound Höhenburg on the so-called Kohlbühel northwest of the two core plug farms in the district of the community. Hirschbach im mühlkreis in district free city of Upper Austria (Hofreith No. 7 and 8;., Follow the road in the Unterhirschgraben, after about 2.5 km you come to a junction to the west, the Chernekk supply road, north of the farms a dirt road leads to just under the castle stables).

history

The small castle complex was probably built around the middle of the 13th century on its own cleared land. In the 14th century it served as the headquarters for the lower nobility of the Gusner family, who lived in northern Riedmark and southern Bohemia. Peter Ybein der Gusner in particular called himself von "Cherneckh". Towards the end of the 14th century or in the first third of the 15th century (border feuds and Hussite turmoil ) the castle complex - similar to the nearby Kronest - was likely to have come to an end through destruction or abandonment; the last detectable Gusner was around 1440 a Wolfgang Gusner . A more precise clarification of the circumstances of the agreement of the castle could only be provided by a targeted archaeological excavation, and a more precise historical analysis of the region as well as the Gusner family and their relationships with the Lords of Rosenberg would be expedient.

The properties belonging to Chernekk were sold to the surrounding landowners and the Meierhof was divided into two farms, which were given the house names Ober- and Unterkernegger. Both came to the rulership of Waldenfels . In 1786, another corridor in the Kernecker corridor was called "Burg (stall) in the wood workshop " for the Unterkernegger , and a Gusenacker was also mentioned.

The heavily sanded system has a size of approx. 40 × 20 m. On the west side of the main castle are the foundations of a tower-like square building, but without any actual approach obstacles. The foundation walls, which are still up to one meter high, consist of rubble stones of different sizes that were bricked with lime mortar. The tower building has the dimensions of 7 × 8 m, the wall thickness is about 1 meter. This wall foundation was uncovered in 1989, followed a year later by the Upper Austrian cultural survey department. State government under the direction of Erich Aufreiter carried out a measurement of the system. Then the tower fragment was filled in, and this place has now completely grown over again. According to an assessment by Alfred Höllhuber and Leopold Josef Mayböck , the ceramic shards recovered during the excavation came from the 13th and 14th centuries.

Today the Unterkernegger farm belongs to the Glanzegg family, the Oberkernegger farm is owned by the Brandstetter family. Unfortunately, the complex is not a listed building.
