Burgstall Nößlbach

The Postal Nößlbach denotes a Outbound hilltop castle on 489  m above sea level. NN in the Hundbrenning district of the Rohrbach-Berg community in the Rohrbach district of Upper Austria (Nößlbach 15).

In Nößlbach there is a castle stable with three walls and a remains of a moat. There are no documentary reports. But the names Schloßholz for the mountain ridge, Schloßbergacker for the leveled castle square and Burgstall for a meadow that slopes down to the brook are reminiscent of this medieval hilltop castle.

Before the Haslacher Bahnhofstrasse was built (1890), the outer wall should have reached down to the Großer Mühl . In 1964 the Burgstall was slightly excavated when the road was widened. Minor damage was also caused by a delivery route. During an experimental excavation in 1931, some uncharacteristic medieval pottery shards (from the 14th century) and a Gothic key were found in a fire layer. The finds are in the possession of the Haslacher Heimathaus. The castle stable was also ravaged by robbery graves.
