The Postal Sumetsrad is an Outbound castle in the village Rainbach in the district Schärding of Upper Austria .

Plan of the Sumetsrad castle stable by Johann Ev. Lamprecht

The castle stable was in the 19th century by Johann Ev. Lamprecht described and measured. The castle is said to have been the seat of the Lords of Sungartsruit (or Sungartesreut ). From a historical point of view it is known that a Dietricus nobilis vir de Sunigartesreut was documented here around 1200 . In the tradition books of the Vornbach Monastery , other Sungartsreuter are mentioned in 1230.

In 1760, the last remains of the former castle are said to have been removed and two stables were built at the Hofergut. The Hofergut, which is not far from the former castle, is said to have been the Meierhof of Sumetsrad Castle and earlier also secured with a rampart and moat. The formerly still recognizable rampart and moat near Hofergut have largely been leveled.
