history

The community name Burgwaldniel comes from the French era , when the two independent Mairien Burgwaldniel (from the French bourg = patch) and Kirspelwaldniel were formed in 1800 . Coming under Prussian rule in 1815, Burgwaldniel belonged to the Kempen district in the Düsseldorf administrative district .
