Burhan Asaf Belge

Burhan Asaf Belge (born February 1, 1899 in Istanbul ; † January 12, 1967 ) was a Turkish politician and from 1957 the representative of the province of Muğla in the 11th reign of the Turkish National Assembly .

Belge came from the family of an Ottoman governor. He studied architecture in Germany. From 1932 to 1934 he was a permanent employee of the left-wing magazine Kadro , which mainly led discussions about ideology and economic development strategy. He then worked as a teacher for ten years.

In 1961, after the coup d'état in 1960, he was sentenced to life imprisonment as deputy chairman of the Democratic Party , but was given amnesty two years later. He worked for a German radio station until his death.

Burhan Asaf Belge was the first of eight husbands of the actress Zsa Zsa Gabor , the father of the Turkish historian and publisher Murat Belge and brother-in-law of Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu (1889–1974).
