The parish church of the Assumption of Mary is a Roman Catholic church in Wondreb , a district of the city of Tirschenreuth in the northern Upper Palatinate . It was built in the 12th century and is a listed building.

history

The Church of the Assumption already existed in the 12th century and was rebuilt in the 14th century. In the 16th century, another redesign took place, including the outer walls and the two lower tower floors. In the first half of the century the nave was built and the church tower was raised. The year 1713 on the portal is an indication of the renovation in the late Baroque style by the Bärnau master mason Philipp Mühlmayr.

The furnishings for the Assumption of Mary were made between 1724 and 1744. After some changes had been made in the 19th century and around 1913, Pastor Ludwig Schreyer took care of the restoration of the building. In cooperation with the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , an attempt was made to restore the state of the 18th century.

description

The parish church is a pillar church with a transept and a recessed rectangular chancel. The interior has a barrel vault with stitch caps , in front of the pilasters there are pilasters in the Tuscan style. The ceiling paintings, which date from the 18th century and have been revised several times, show various Marian themes and the four evangelists . The high altar with a stucco structure made of marble comes from Vitus Fuchs from Tirschenreuth. The organ with case from 1748 comes from Waldsassen , as do the twelve baroque figures of the twelve apostles , which were carved by Martin Hirsch in 1719.
