Burkhard Heer

Burkhard Heer (born July 11, 1966 in Hamburg ) is a German financial scientist . He is a professor at the University of Augsburg .

Life

After graduating from the Stormarn School in Ahrensburg , Heer studied economics and mathematics at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , the San Francisco State University and the University of Cologne from 1986 to 1996 . In 1996 he received his doctorate from Alfred Maußner in Cologne. In 2000 he completed his habilitation with Carl Christian von Weizsäcker . During his studies he did a. a. Stations at Morgan Stanley and Dresdner Bank in Frankfurt am Main and at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC

From 2000 to 2001 he was a professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and a parental leave professor at the University of Innsbruck . In 2001 he became professor for economic policy at the University of Bamberg ; In 2004 he moved to the Free University of Bozen . Since 2012 he has been Professor of Public Finance at the University of Augsburg.

Research stays took him to Montreal, Barcelona, ​​Innsbruck, Georgetown, Stanford, St. Louis and Munich. He is also a fellow at the Ifo Institute for Economic Research in Munich. His focus areas include business cycle research, insurance and taxation as well as stochastic equilibrium models. The Handelsblatt ranked him among the top 100 German economists abroad (2010 and 2011).

He is married and has two children.
