Burkhard Jähnke

Burkhard Jähnke (born May 14, 1937 in Berlin ) is a German lawyer and former Vice President of the Federal Court of Justice .

biography

In 1965 Jähnke joined the judicial service of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and was appointed district judge in 1968 . From 1969 to 1972 Jähnke was seconded to the Federal Ministry of Justice, in 1973 he was appointed judge at the Higher Regional Court. He then worked at the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz until he was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice in 1980 .

Within the Federal Court of Justice, Jähnke initially belonged to the IIX. Before moving to the 4th Criminal Senate in 1982, to which he was a member until 1991, most recently as deputy chairman.

With his appointment as presiding judge at the Federal Court of Justice in October 1991, Jähnke took over the chairmanship of the 2nd criminal senate , which he held until his retirement in May 2002.

From March 1999 until he retired in 2002, Jähnke was also Vice President of the Federal Court of Justice.

He is an honorary professor at the law faculty of the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena .
