Burkhard Weber (theologian)

Burkhard Weber (* 1954 in Berlin ; † December 12, 2016 in Wuppertal ) was a German Protestant theologian , pastor, evangelist, lecturer and director of the Johanneum Evangelist School .

Live and act

After completing an internship at the daily newspaper Hessische / Niedersächsische Allgemeine and training as a daily newspaper editor, Weber studied Protestant theology at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and the Humboldt University of Berlin . He then worked as a parish priest in Salzgitter , Herne and Schwelm . From 1981 to 1985 he worked as a research assistant for church history at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum . From November 1986 to July 1994 he was a lecturer in systematic theology and church history , and from August 1995 until his death in 2016 director of the Johanneum Evangelist School.

Between 1997 and 2015 he was a board member of the Evangelical Gnadauer Community Association and from 2003 to 2015 chairman of the "Conference of Missionary Training Centers". He was a co-founder of the theological training course "Church in Intercultural Context" of the Rhenish Church and was involved as second chairman in the working group "Conversation between the regional church and regional church communities". For many years he belonged to the regional synod of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland and was an active member of the Wuppertal parish of Wichlinghausen- Nachbarebreck .

Burkhard Weber was married to his wife Annette and had a daughter.
