Burli is a song by the Austrian pop band EAV . It is song number eight on the 1987 album Liebe, Tod & Teufel .

The song is about a boy named Anton, called " Burli " which, after a meltdown of a nuclear power plant was born and numerous mutations have. So it says in the song: The Burli hot left and right three o'clock , on the head he hot a mushroom , twelve Zechn on the Fiaß ... In the following the life story of Burli is described from birth to growing up to first love. The story finally has a happy ending when Burli meets his neighbor Amalia (who has also mutated from the ionizing radiation ) and marries. The text suggests that Burli also has more than one genitals.

The background for the song was the Chernobyl reactor disaster , which is evident from both the text and the date of publication. A characteristic of the EAV is to write songs about current events.

In the 2015 EAV album Werewolf Attack - Monsterball is everywhere , the song is continued in Mrs. Fuckushima . In it Burli leaves his Amalia for the "Strahle-Girl Fukush-Irmi". The background to this is the Fukushima nuclear disaster .

Burli scandal

The scandal about the song finally broke out in February 1988, when the radio station Bayern 3 rated the song text as offensive to disabled people. As a result, the song was no longer played by some radio programs in Germany and was accordingly the only EAV hit in the 1980s that did not make it into the German airplay charts.

The single by Burli caused another scandal, as it also contained a song called Kurti or When you have to go , which was about the allegations against the Austrian President Kurt Waldheim because of his activities during the National Socialist era .
