The Burnette Rock is a 45 m high cliff off the Ruppert coast of the west Antarctic Marie-Byrd-Land . It rises 1.1 km northwest of Groves Island .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names took the name in 1967 at the suggestion of topography engineer Charles E. Morrison Jr. of the United States Geological Survey (USGS). It is named after Chief Warrant Officer Desmond Burnett of the United States Army , helicopter pilot of the USGS crew, which explored Marie Byrd Land between 1966 and 1967. Burnette landed here on December 4, 1966.
