The Burning Mountain (Eng. Burning Mountain), actually Mount Wingen , is an elevation near Wingen , New South Wales in Australia. The mountain is 520 m above sea level. It is known for the seam fire at a depth of around 30 m, which geologists believe has lasted for 6000 years. The fire advances southwards at a speed of about 1 m per year. The burned-out area is up to 6.5 km from the currently burning zone.

The first settlers considered the phenomenon to be volcanism . Reverend CPN Wilton and Sir Thomas Mitchell realized the real cause around 1830.
