Burn Well is an unincorporated community in Walker County in the state of Alabama in the United States .

Burnwell is located in central Alabama in the southern United States. It is located approximately 20 miles southeast of 733 square kilometers William B. Bankhead National Forest and 25 kilometers south of 85 square kilometers Lewis Smith Lake .

Nearby places include Dora (immediately adjacent to the west), Sumiton (3 km northeast), Graysville (6 km east), Adamsville (7 km southeast) and Cordova (8 km northwest). The next larger city with 212,000 inhabitants is about 21 kilometers southeast of Birmingham .

history

Originally the place was called Burnwell Mines , based on the nearby mines, from which the name Burnwell is probably derived. A post office opened in 1909 and operated until 2010.
