The John Burroughs Medal , referred to in English as the John Burroughs Medal or Burroughs Medal , is an award named after the "literary naturalist" John Burroughs , which is given to authors of scientific books. It is awarded annually by the John Burroughs Association . Rachel Carson , Aldo Leopold and Ernest Thompson Seton are among the most well-known winners of the medal .
