Way of life

The distribution area of the burton impulse is the Himalayas from Pakistan to Sikkim . Similar to the snow bullfinch ( Leucosticte ), the burton bullfinch is a bird of high altitude. It occurs during the summer months at altitudes between 2,000 and 3,500 meters. It is a migratory bird that migrates to lower altitudes during the winter months. It can then be found at altitudes above 1,000 meters.

Unlike the snow bull, the burton does not build its nest on the ground, but in conifers at heights between 3 and 21 meters. The nest is very solid and is made of small twigs, blades of grass, pine needles and hair. The clutch consists of three to four eggs. The female breeds alone.
