The Busan Lotte World Tower is a skyscraper that is currently under construction in the South Korean city of Busan . It will become part of the entire Lotte Town complex . A shopping center in the vicinity was opened in 2011.

The excavation of the construction pit for the complex began on December 18, 2000, and civil engineering work for the tower began in spring 2011. The mall was completed in 2009 and opened in 2010. The aim is to build a taller building than the Shanghai World Financial Center . First, when the building in Shanghai was to be 460 meters high, a tower with a height of 465 meters was planned. After several years of construction halt at Shanghai World Financial Center, it was clear that it would now be 492 meters high, so the design of the Busan Lotte Tower was revised and a 494 meter high skyscraper was planned. After further revisions, the tower will be 510 meters high. This would surpass the Taipei 101 (508 meters). The tower will have 107 floors, which will be used for hotel and office space.

After the excavation was completed, the actual construction of the tower began at the end of 2011. In March 2012, the first concreting was carried out on the foundation. The opening of the tower was planned for 2015 or 2016. In September 2013 the construction work was stopped for economic reasons. A date for their resumption has not been announced. Some sources now cite 2020 as the date for completion.

The building is not identical to the Lotte World Premium Tower in Seoul .
