Business News Network (BNN) is a Canadian television entertainment broadcaster specializing in current business and financial topics in North America . Since December 2010, the broadcast studio has been located at 299 Queen Street West in Downtown Toronto , Ontario and is operated by Bell Media .

history

In 1996 a joint venture was agreed between Thomson Corporation (50% stake), WIC (25%) and CanCom (25%). On September 1, 1999, the station began broadcasting the format under the name Report on Business Television (ROBTv for short). In 2000, Canwest Global took over WIC, which led to tension within the joint venture because CanWest acquired the Southam newspaper and The National Post , both of which operated in competition. In the same year the Thomson Corp. into a newly founded company of Bell Globemedia, which also included the company CTV . On March 12, 2007, the station was renamed Business News Network.

Broadcast program

The broadcaster broadcasts mostly self-produced programs, some are bought in from other broadcasters and the like. a. from Bloomberg Television. BNN sends current stock prices directly from the Toronto Stock Exchange , NYSE , NASDAQ and other major stock exchanges. In addition to its headquarters in Toronto, the broadcaster has further broadcasting offices on the NASDAQ financial centers in Times Square in New York and on the stock exchange in Calgary , Canada.

BNN HD

On November 28, 2011, the broadcaster began broadcasting its television format in HDTV in parallel . The HD channel is fed into the digital cable network of Bell Fibe TV and Shaw Cable .
